Help my friends and I help our friend Geo and his family fight cancer! You are not fighting alone Geo, WE ARE ALL FIGHTING WITH YOU!
It has been two months since our friend, Geobanny “Geo” Garcia, was recently diagnosed with Stage IV Myoepithelial Carcinoma (a rare Salivary gland cancer that has now moved onto his bones). At age 22, this has been a life changing experience for Geo, his family, and his friends. In 2009, he went through surgery to remove a benign tumor that was growing by his salivary glands. In 2010 that same tumor re-grew and he had his second surgery. At the end of 2011 and beginning of 2012 Geo began to have different symptoms that caused him to have difficulty walking, eating, and performing his daily routines. In mid June of 2012 Geo was admitted to the LAC-USC hospital and was diagnosed with Stage IV Myoepithelial Carcinoma that has now spread out to his hip bone. Due to this condition, Geo has difficulty walking or standing on his own. He has been told that he does not have a cure but has been treating with radiation and chemotherapy sessions. Geo is a fun, nice, and loving friend who is always there for anyone who may need him. From being silly to a hard working student he has been able to remain an important person to our group of friends. Some of his favorite hobbies include drawing, graphic designing, dancing, swimming, and making people laugh. In 2009, Geo and our group of friends fundraised money for the “American Cancer Society Relay for Life” to fight against cancer. We named our group “The Cancer Fighters.” Today, our group of Cancer Fighters joined together to help Geo and to let him know that he is not alone! We want to raise awareness about cancer and the importance of building a strong network of consciousness and support to this matter. His family, friends, and our community are all with him and any person out there fighting a disease! Before finding out about this, Geo was studying in his third year as a graphic design major at CSU San Bernardino. Unfortunately he was unable to finish his Spring 2012 quarter because of the amount of pain he was enduring due to his condition. As you can see this has taken a toll on Geo and his family. This has put a hold on Geo’s academic career and in his daily routine. We ask you to please open your heart and help us help Geo and his family through this rough time by donating anything that comes from your heart. We want to let Geo know he is not fighting alone and that we will beat this cancer and it will not beat him or us. The funds we raise will help him and his family cover medical expenses and home needs.
